Mindful Monday - The Art of Peace

Certainty: The quality of being reliably true.

Uncertainty: The absence of detailed knowledge.

Uncertainty fuels The Art of War and promotes destabilization. Hence, The Art of Peace is stabilization through various degrees of certainty. Uncertainty propagates fear, chaos, anxiety. Its nemesis, certainty, promulgates confidence, clarity, harmony. Peace or War. Good or Evil. Truth or Lie. Order or Anarchy. All are manifestations of Certainty or Uncertainty.

Attaining The Art of Peace:

Articulate

There are many causes of discontentment, worry, and anxiety, and most are rooted in uncertainty. “If a fear cannot be articulated, it cannot be conquered.” - Stephen King.

Clarity

Eliminate ambiguity in your speech. Match intention with action. Provide facts and evidence. Speak the truth. Order eradicates Chaos.

Qualify

Certainty confirmation is a natural byproduct of reliable information and facts. Always qualify the source. Demand proof, study the evidence, and authenticate the communicator. As President Reagan quipped, “Trust but verify.”

Deliberate Ambiguity

Chaos immobilizes the individual resulting in an immobilized mass. Even entire countries are destabilized through ill-intended intentional ambiguity which metastasizes into uncertainty. Eliminate from your life any and all transmissions of organized and calculated abstruseness.

Environment

Establish an environment of order, clarity, peace. This includes your surroundings, your associations, your workspace, and, most importantly, your mindspace. You cannot control the world, but you can control your own environment.

It’s Always Relative

Certainty is relative, suggesting that there is no absolute certainty, just degrees of uncertainty. While certainty often cannot be entirely eliminated, through the practice of the earlier deemed precautions it’s possible, probable even, to artfully engineer chance.
