‘Twas the Night Before Christmas at a law firm for Spitzer - Burnett.
1.8 Billion they had won, but collected? Not yet!
The office was quiet. The briefs and motions all prepared.
An appeal on the horizon, they weren’t even scared.
Everyone had gone home, except for one legal aid at his desk.
Somberly he reflected on his own home sale. No offers! What a mess!
His family’s dream to move North was slipping away.
The market was turning, with rates volatile each day.
The aid called his real estate agent to ask what to do.
Agents don’t stop for holidays, he knew this to be true.
She answered so quickly, she could hear he was sad.
She had a few suggestions, and for this he was glad.
“Let’s offer to compensate buyer agents for selling your home.
It will open up options for buyers who can’t roll buyer rep costs into their loan.”
“When listing your home, representation was important to you.
The same goes for buyers, but those with extra funds are so few.”
“By offering to contribute to representation for buyers,
Your home becomes more affordable for the home shoppers you desire.”
The legal aid agreed to his Realtor's design.
So glad he did, because she made his Christmas so fine.
Just before midnight, still Christmas Eve, the legal aid heard a ring.
Was that Santa outside? No, it was his text messaging ping!
His Realtor was texting, and so late at night.
An offer in hand! Could this be right?
More rapid than eagles, the text messages came through fast.
The terms and conditions, his phone lit like a blast.
“Now Pricing, and Mortgage, and Inspections Too!
These buyers love your home, it fits like a shoe!”
“If it’s Ok with you, they want to close soon.”
It was music to the legal aid’s ears, oh what a tune!
Christmas Day was spent packing to the legal aid’s delight.
His family planned their move, they were so merry and bright.
The final part of his Christmas, he spent writing with glee.
A letter for his law firm about how Realtors are key.
“Realtors are special in all that they achieve.
They are kind, patient, and nurturing, while also standing up for what they believe.”
“They work day and night, holidays for sure.
They show homes in rotten weather which they graciously endure.”
“They market, they negotiate, they offer advice.
They will door knock a stranger, if a buyer says that home is just right.”
“Realtors fundraise, and volunteer, and give freely to those without.
Their dedication to their communities is down right devout.”
With the final words of his letter, the legal aid said one more bit.
The best was for last, as he scrolled, “I quit.”
Moving boxes packed, for his future he was impatient.
Because after what he had witnessed he dreamed of becoming a real estate agent.
He thanked his fine agent for all her advice.
Then snuggled in for the warm winter night.
